From Membership

Happy New Year! Beginning a new year has always been an exciting time for me. It’s a chance for me to embrace a new beginning and a new start. I have made many New Year’s resolutions through the years. Oh you know the ones like lose 10 pounds, eat healthier, exercise more, attend a small group Bible study, be more positive, be thankful, pray more, etc. The list could go on and on. This year, for some reason, I did not make an intentional resolution, but I did set a goal. My goal for 2017 is to invite other administrative assistants to join PAUMCS.
My responsibility for the past two years in our Georgia Chapter PAUMCS is to serve as Membership Secretary and it has been a pleasure to serve in this capacity. I have learned so much and value all of the friendships I have made. Networking with my PAUMCS sisters is so valuable. These groups of professional administrators are always so willing to help with advice, suggestions, and support. But what’s more important, they are always lifting you in prayer when prayer is what you need the most. How cool is that!
I work with an awesome staff at Greensboro First United Methodist Church. My pastors, Rev. Mike Morgan, Senior Pastor and Rev. Hugh Hendrickson, Associate Pastor, support and encourage Greensboro’s Administrative Staff Team to be members of PAUMCS. The church administrators I work alongside, Marie Boswell and Paula Moore, desire to be the very best they can be, and they feel that being a member of PAUMCS will help them reach that desire. I have asked Pastor Hugh, Marie, and our newest 2017 PAUMCS member, Paula, to share with you their testimonials on the importance of PAUMCS.
Why I support PAUMCS by Rev. Hugh Hendrickson, Associate Pastor
PAUMCS provides a network of support, positive, and professional relationships for our Church Administrators to become better administrators for our local church and ministers of the Gospel. Church Administrators aren’t just people who answer the phone, type the bulletin, or manage the pastor’s schedule. They are ambassadors of the mission and ministry of the local church. Our church administrative team is often the first people that someone in need contacts. They are the first to comfort people in the midst of grief and loss. They offer hope to the needy who ask our church for help. They are on the front-line as peacemakers with church members who might not be so peaceable. I support PAUMCS because it helps our administrative staff see their job as ministry and encourages them to fulfill their ministry with dignity and grace.
Why I want to be a member of PAUMCS by Marie Boswell, Facilities Coordinator/Administrative Assistant
As you know, I am still relatively new to the business side of church life. I was blessed in 2015 by being hired by Greensboro First United Methodist Church. Oh, the things I didn’t know that I didn’t know. I truly feel called to serve the church to the best of my abilities. In that, I feel that being a member of PAUMCS is a wonderful thing. It not only provides warm, loving fellowship in the service of God, but PAUMCS also provides resources for doing a better job and ideas for going forward. I am thankful to Kathy Cawthon for inviting me to attend a meeting with her and for the support of our church leaders in our active participation in PAUMCS.
My interest in being a PAUMCS member by Paula Moore, Financial Secretary
I am interested in PAUMCS membership because I enjoy interacting with individuals that share the same job experiences and responsibilities. It is interesting to compare methods and strategies with fellow church office administrators. I am always looking for new ideas and willing to share my own ideas with others. I am looking forward to getting to network with my new PAUMCS friends.
I hope that you will join or renew your membership, or invite someone to try out PAUMCS. If your church cannot afford to pay your membership, please let me know. I would personally like to sponsor at least one membership. That’s how important it is to me for you to belong. My email address is kcawthon@fumcgreensboro.org. For more information, do not hesitate to contact me or any of the executive committee members. Be sure to check out our website at www.ga-paumcs.org. I am looking forward to receiving your membership form soon! Join us and make our PAUMCS organization the best in 2017!
